AUGUST 24, 2006
OUR FIRST DAY AT MRS. AMERICA
Today we started out with a rehearsal with choreographers extraordinaire Frit & Frat, who were super high energy and lots of fun. They wanted to get an idea of how we moved and danced, so we learned a short routine and got groovin'! After lunch, we received our cowboy boots generously donated by Tony Lama, as well as cowboy hats in preparation for our horseback riding adventure later on. In the afternoon, we had a fun "challenge" called the Diaper-Off, where we changed "babies" in a timed event. We were all cracking up and I came close to winning my heat, but Mrs. MD edged me out! It was a lot of fun and there will be more fun events to come. This year, Mrs. A is adding two additional spots in the Top 10 (which will now be a Top 12), with the two additional spots going to the two ladies with the highest challenge event scores. The other challenge events are horseback riding, golf, a cooking-related challenge, and margarita mixing. I picked #1 golf, #2 horseback riding, #3 margarita mixing, and #4 cooking (I'm a lousy cook! HA!). In the evening, we were the special guests of the Mayor's Conference, and we were welcomed by the Mayor of Tucson, Mr. Bob Walkup and his lovely wife. It was a great first official day!
